The Gratitude Division - February 2024

There's something about a leap-year February that delights me! I don't know why, but something about it feels like a special treat. So, welcome to this very special leap-year edition of The Gratitude Division. In addition to feeling grateful for the existence of February 29th, here are a few more things that have left me feeling gratitude this month.

Reading the next book in a series

I couldn't pick just one book here because I had the chance to read two new books from different long-running series I've been following.

The first was Aftermath by Craig Alanson, the 16th book in the Expeditionary Force series. If you like sci-fi action, with a dose of humor, this is a great adventure series.

The second was System Collapse by Martha Wells, the 7th book in the Murderbot Diaries series. If you like sci-fi action with a dose of humour and a side of existential questioning about AI, robotics, and augmented humanity, this is the series for you.

I really enjoy a good series and both of these have been solid companions for years now. I'm grateful to have found them and that their authors continue to find new expressions for these character voices as the adventures continue.

Dinner with Friends

Our Taste-Buds went out on the town once again! This time for some Korean BBQ that was amazing. Our friend Nat had heard good things about Baekjeong and we got a reservation at their Mayfield location. The minute we walked through the door we knew it was going to be a good experience. The food smelled wonderful! And the taste did not disappoint. The portions were generous, the service was fantastic, and based on how busy it was it would seem that they've build a good reputation. We will certainly be back.

Connecting with a Previous Client

A client I worked with a few years ago reached out to touch base and work on some new goals. We don't always get to hear from former clients, so it's always nice to get feedback on how things are going and how the person has continued to grow. Every now and then I'll receive an email or a DM from someone to tell me how they're doing. It makes my heart happy every single time.

What are you grateful for this month?

I hope that February 2024 has been kind to you, given you opportunities to grow, and allowed you to connect with the people and hobbies you love!

If you find that you're in need of some support and you think that you'd like to work with me, please feel free to reach out via my website - Calder Mental Health Services.

Take care and I'll see you in March!
